(from A Kahn Design Press Release) The Afzal Kahn JEEP restoration challenge
London/May 2011 Just how did Afzal Kahns team of savvy designers persuade the principal British designer to take time out of his busy schedule to oversee the transformation of a vehicle with 75,000 miles on the clock?
As you can imagine, this was no mean feat. Afzal had no control over the type of vehicle which was delivered to him. The design team simply sourced the vehicle and asked him to get on with it.
Click here to auto-copy and follow my trades. Soon you will be able to buy your brand new BMW X5 :)
And as expected, Afzal Kahn delivers this high-impact military edition Jeep with such clout; it is safe to say that this military grey metallic game-changer would not look out of place with London, Chelsea or New York centric drivers, rock climbers and off-roaders at the helm, nor would it look weary in a Daniel Craig inspired 007 movie.
Under the Kahn expedition vehicles umbrella, the Chelsea truck companys Wrangler Jeep Military edition includes a meshed front grill, gold finished calipers, quad exhaust system, rear wheel cover, smoked side lights and repeaters, petrol flat cap in billet mat black, mud flaps hardwearing, aluminum machined foot pedals, smoked side lights and repeaters, sat-navigation, reverse camera, blue tooth, dial facia clocks and LED driving lights and to finish it all off, the compulsory branded rear wheel cover.
Furthermore, a commitment to fostering cutting edge technology ensures, should customers wish, for the blank rear window sections and LED lights to be made available in bullet-proof glass. Furthermore, depending on the level of protection required, a superior type of glass, more advanced than the sort of glass which is used to protect world statesmen, is also available.
Inside is the bespoke touch, this particular vehicle comes with red quilted leather seats, dial facia clocks and more. However, we always provide our customers with what they want. And Afzal Kahn could, for example, design for you a vehicle with an exterior the colour of your jeans and an interior with seats akin to the shade of, lets say, a grey t-shirt. Customers could also change the colour of the clock, or ask for anything else, the world is their oyster, so to speak.
Kahn wheels sit perfectly, on any vehicle, conveying the essence of the vehicles identity. Created using state-of-the art manufacturing and materials technology, the Kahn RS wheels are available in 9 x 20 in silver or black and fit all original centre caps.
With simple clean lines, soft organic surfaces on the edge of the spoke and a purposeful mechanical centre, the RS wheels are synonymous with elegance and innovation.
A. Kahn Design is for the individual who will not submit to a life of uniformity and who will only accept perfection. Dedicated to the creation of luxury bespoke vehicles, we redesign the ordered monotony of mass produced vehicles and rebuild them into individually tailored creations.
And if you have a challenge for Afzal Kahn, who not let us know? Restoration projects for vehicles up to 10-15 years old will be accepted by Afzal Kahn - so get in touch via kahn@kahndesign.com or T: 01274 74 99 99

It is not enough to produce huge desaƄvalce and assemble the cars tremendous power at the cost of catastrophic consumption. This scenario is also downsizing (reducing engine), it has launched many automobile and 10-cylinder became 8-cylinders of 8-Vacov 6-cylinder engines to the smallest, where he moved up to 1.0 or 0.9 dvojvalcom liter. Even wealthier customers are already looking at the fuel efficiency of cars and in one another can provide the same power consumption in half, getting the order of their ranking higher.
A new workshop in extreme BMW M is a new group of vehicles, except that the connection: everyday usability and performance and added value of consumption and emissions. These models will be the first 'BMWs' with the letter M and more than one digit in it. In 1980 BMW introduced a new model M535 with increased power to 218 hp (160 kW) and a modified chassis. Then came the second generation of the new M535, which sold in the years 1984 to 1987. Now comes the new BMW Performance range of M, which has to offer cars with solid performance, but also environmentally friendly.
In the gallery you will find all four models made by BMW M Performance in the video and you'll see these models in motion, along with the comments people made by BMW M.

2011 BMW X5M review
Under the hood of the BMW X5 M is a 555-horsepower twin-turbo V-8 with a deep baritone exhaust note; a churning, accessible torque curve; and an automatic transmission that's without hesitation. It gives the BMW X5 M a character that, oddly enough, given the taller seating position, feels part muscle car, part exotic. Handling, too, defies this vehicle's height; there's better handling than you'd probably think possible for such a tall vehicle—although it'll never feel like a sports car in the transitions. BMW X5 M models admittedly sacrifice a little bit of ride comfort, but with an M sport suspension and AdaptiveDrive electronic damping it rides nearly as well as the base BMW X5.
If there's one weak point of the BMW X5, and particularly the BMW X5 M—which can easily top $90k—it's that it doesn't stand out well enough in the crowd. While the BMW X5 M is fast and hard to fluster, the BMW X5 M, just as the rest of the 2011 X5 lineup, lacks some of the design flair, inside and out, that makes some of its competitors—like the Porsche Cayenne, Land Rover Range Rover Sport and Infiniti FX50—really pop visually.
The other down side of the BMW X5 M is that while you'll no doubt be able to pay for its hefty thirst, you might also invite the scorn of environmentalists; it's rated at just 12 mpg city, 17 highway (premium required) and if you like to use the power you have your mileage will be on the low side of that.
That said, for those wanting a vehicle that's safe and secure, when driven responsibly, with the family during the week and then ready a little track time on the weekends once in a while, the BMW X5 M is ready to step up.

Deep Dive: 2014 BMW X5 and X6
At the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, BMW is expected to show the third iteration of the popular BMW X5. Six a few months later, the new BMW X6 is scheduled to see the light. Both models are based on a whole new components set known in-house as "X for all those," a result of BMW's growing interest in addition to expertise in all-wheel drive.
For the BMW X5 and X6, "Times for all" means new axles derived from your 5-series sedan. They will, according to BMW, lessen the weight by as much as 330-pounds. As an effect, the lightest BMW X5 replacement is said to tenderloin the two-ton draw by a small however significant margin. An ill-fated victim of this brand new design is the X6's torque-vectoring back differential, which works amazingly but adds weight and cost. Instead, BMW offers to offer the optional effective steering, a self-leveling air suspension along with Adaptive Drive, which utilizes adjustable anti-roll watering holes to suppress unwanted entire body movements. The three-way damper calibration system (normal, sport, comfort) and the related engine/transmission control are expected to possibly be no-cost parts with the BMW X5/X6 parcel.
The 2 crossovers also introduce a multitude of driver assistance devices which likely preview what's into the future on the next 3-series. Included in this are lane departure alert and compensation devices, night vision, park assist with revolve around view cameras, traffic indicator recognition and active cruise control that allows the auto to come to a complete stop and accelerate up to speed.
All-new styling for that BMW X5 likely refrains in the swoopy swooshiness of Adrian van Hooydonk's latest creations like the 6-series coupe. The actual cabin layout is considered to be remarkably close to your 5-series Gran Turismo, and that is doing extremely well within China. Expect extras being a full-length glass sunshine-roof, power-operated rear seat designs, and a much more practical split tailgate with a lower section that folds over up rather than straight down. A sports package consists of larger wheels and a more ground-hugging stance, and also an aero kit of which reduces drag and boosts down force at swiftness.
Although the BMW X6 style still won't be an item lesson in functional style, the coupe crossover does get a dose connected with practicality. A redesigned (and better looking) stern enhances visibility and creates quantifiably more rear dynamic headroom. Wider rear doors convenience entry and exit. That said, the pseudo SUV likewise gets an even additional dynamic looking greenhouse. Brand new front and rear fascias round out the update.

Review: BMW X5 4.0D Sport
THE BMW X5 lately underwent a mid-life revision bringing along with it improved engines and products, styling tweaks and varied other changes including a eight-speed automatic.
Whatever way you look with it, the big Bimmer has what it will take in the large high end SUV class against companies Merc’s ML-Class, Porsche Cayenne, VW Touareg and even the actual Lexus RX.
We got hold of probably the most attractive BMW X5, the 40d Sport that sells for $113,300.
It’azines a whole lot of car for the funds offering stupendous performance from your 3.0-litre (not 4.0-litre as the brand suggests) straight six diesel with twin variable geometry turbos that’azines good for 225kW and a whopping 600Nm from lower as low as 1500rpm.
This latter fact translates into serious effectiveness across the entire powerplant operating range including off-idle. It’ersus due to the smaller sized turbo spooling up in low revs while the larger unit adds its boost above 2500rpm.
The 2110kg X5 40d Hobby can put away a 0-100km/h sprint in a scant six.6 seconds while using as little as 7.5-litres/100km - amazing.
The eight-speed car sounds like overkill nevertheless , you can’t tell whenever it’s changing armor and weapon upgrades so the point does not matter. It is never caught out in the wrong cog unless you have prefer the paddle shift function and forgot to show down or up.
Generate is permanent to almost all wheels - variable electronically as well as in sync’ with the steadiness control system.
Though a big beast, the BMW X5 40d Sport benefits via BMW’s EfficientDynamics method with low rolling amount of resistance tyres, a decoupling airconditioning compressor, regenerative braking, demand controlled ancillaries and also a specially calibrated transfer box.
Aerodynamics are optimised and feature an active front release control.
The BMW X5 40d is an fantastic vehicle to drive - remarkably sporty accentuated by a good suspension and quick steerage response.
It doesn’capital t feel like you usually are piloting a 2110kg sporting activities utility vehicle, that’ohydrates for sure.
The check vehicle had a range of options including the top quality Top View satnav as well as reversing camera system that's highly recommended.
It progresses on rubber of tremendous proportions to rival the likes of Lamborghini and Ferrari.
The electrical clamshell tailgate is remarkable as is the way the third row connected with seats fold completely into your floor - easy to set up too.
There’s an amazing array of electronics beneath BMW X5’s sculpted sheetmetal including what is named adaptive drive that shifts the suspension by method of small electric motors and electro-magnetics to match any given driving setting.
It even has the particle filter in the exhaust to clean in place emissions on the solution to passing stringent Euro a few emissions regulations.
It might be big but the BMW X5 sure ain’capital t bad.
